SPECIALTY EYEGLASS TINTS

Selecting tints carefully can improve the performance of your eyewear in specific environments and activities.

	Grey	Keeps color distortion to a minimum while providing maximum reduction in brightness	general use, driving
	Brown	The best all-around tint because it provides a full color-spectrum and increases contrast by filtering-out harmfull blue light. Enhance depth-perception and vision in low-light situations	everyday wear, golf, tennis
	Green or G-15 (grey-green)	Originally designed by the military for fighter pilots, the G-15 tint provides clearest vision found in a sunglass lens, as the human eye is best at processing light in the green spectrum	pilots, jobs where color perception is important
	Yellow	Dramatically increases contrast (thus increasing focua) without blocking-out too much light, ideal for sports and low-light situations. Not recommended for activities requiring accurate color perception.	driving, skiing, skeet shooting, baseball
	Blue	Mainly used as a fashion-tint because blue lenses do not filter-out harmful and glaring blue light. If the look of a blue tint is desired, we recommend a brown or gray lens coated with a blue mirror coating.	fashion only
	Rose	Cosmetically appealing as well as helpfull for indoor use. Rose tints help to correct flourescently-lit environments, bringing the perception of color back to a more natural spectrum.	office use, computer users to reduce eyestrain and monitor glare
	Purple	Natural color perception, while offering moderate reduction in brightness	hunting
	Amber or Orange	"Warms" colors, creating a pleasing color-spectrum, enhances contrast, reduces glare by blocking blue light. Excellent for cheering-up our dreary North Iowa winters	shooting, general sport lenses
